A Brief On Aniocha North Local Government

Aniocha North Local Government was carved out of the defunct Aniocha Local Government of the equally defunct Bendel State on August 27th, 1991 by Military Government of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (RTD). It is located in the northern part of Delta State, Nigeria. The Local Government which has its headquarters in Issele-uku is bordered by Aniocha South LGA to the east, Ohimili North LGA to the South, Ika North-East LGA to the west and Edo State to the north.

It stretches across the land mass of 523km with a population of over 200,000. Aniocha North Local Government Area has three major clans of Ezechima, Idumuje and Odiani with 18 communities within the Council area. These towns include: Obior, Onicha-Ugbo, Onicha-Olona, Idumuje-Ugboko, Issele-Uku, Issele-Mkpitime, Idumuogo, Idumuje-Unor and Ezi. Others are Issele-Azagba, Ubulubu, Obomkpa, Ugboba, Onicha-Uku, Ugbodu, Ogodor, Ukwunnzu and Aniofu.

For the past thirty-three years of its creation, Aniocha North Local Government has experienced sixteen different administrations starting with the administration of qassadgc Chief Dan Okenyi upon its creation on August 27, 1991 to the present administration of Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye who was overwhelmingly elected on Saturday, July 13, 2024 and inaugurated on Monday, July 15, 2024.
